What is Shazam and why is it important?

Shazam is a major factor in how radio stations choose their songs. The more you Shazam the more likely a song will be played on radio stations. Radio stations obtains their playlists from Shazam charts. Radio play or airplay is one of the factors to chart on Billboard such as Hot 100.

Shazam is used by the music industry worldwide to find what listeners are interested in. Shazam is used to predict hits. Highly Shazamed songs are often what gets to be played on global radio.

HOW IT WORKS?

Shazam works by analyzing the captured sound and seeking a match based on an acoustic fingerprint in a database of millions of songs.

How to Shazam?

Download the Shazam app on Google Play or App Store.

1. Play any SB19 song on any device.
2. Open Shazam App.
3. Tap the Shazam button.
4. It will recognize the song after a few seconds.

Android

You can Shazam the same song several times a day by clearing data after each Shazam.

1. Tap and hold Shazam icon
2. Click on App Info
3. Click Storage
4. Click Clear Data
5. Click OK
6. Repeat

iOS

Shazam the song using Shazam app once every 24-hour using all iOS devices. Each iOS devices can contribute to 1 Shazam per song per 24-hour whether you are logged in or not.

Snapchat

Shazam is built into Snapchat. You don't need the Shazam app to use it.

Play any SB19 song from any device.

1. Open Snapchat app.
2. Open Camera Screen.
3. Press and hold the center of the camera screen to Shazam a song. (Make sure the microphone is on.)
4. After it recognizes the song, you can send your new music discovery as a snap.
5. Repeat after 24 hours. (1 per 24-hour for the same song.)

Web Shazam

Shazam brings song recognition to web. Shazam added a beta version of its music recognition tool to desktop browsers.

The web beta is for Safari, Chrome, and Firefox on Mac OS and Chrome OS.

1. Play SB19 song on your device.
2. Go to Shazam website.
3. Click on Shazam icon.
4. Wait for it to recognize the song.
5. Repeat after 24 hours.

Chrome Extension
Shazam is now available on Google Chrome.

How to install the extension to your browser:

1. Go to Google's Chrome Web Store and search Shazam extension.
2. Tap Add to Chrome and select Add extension. You can pin the extension to your browser toolbar once it's done installing.

How to use Shazam extension:

1. Go to the tab that is playing music.
2. Click on the Shazam extension icon.
3. A popup will appear. Click the Shazam button to identify the song.

Location Permission

Although it's optional, we encourage you to turn on Location Permission for Shazam App.

If Location Permission is turned on, your Shazam will contribute to both local and Global Shazam chart. If it's not on then it will only contribute to Global chart.

1. Touch and hold the Shazam app.
2. Go to App Info.
3. Click on Permissions.
4. Turn on the Location and Microphone for Shazam app.

1. Is Shazam a streaming platform?
No, Shazam is a song discovery app.
2. Can I Shazam 2 or more different songs in a row?
Yes, you can. For example you can Shazam Bazinga and then What?. Just make sure to clear data (Android users) before you can Shazam again and both of them will count.
3. How often should I Shazam?
You can Shazam as many as you want (Android users) just make sure you clear data.
4. Can I use VPN?
No, DO NOT use VPN. The use of VPN will invalidate your Shazams. Enable your location to make your Shazams count locally and globally.
